This article is part of our series covering current boycotts we recommend joining.
The Stop the Money Pipeline Coalition launched a nationwide boycott of T-Mobile on September 10th. The campaign has the backing of the Communications Workers of America, the AFL-CIO, and the Tesla Takedown Movement.
Boycott organizers are requesting existing T-Mobile customers to cancel their service on the weekend of November 15th. The scheduled cancellation date is designed to maximize the impact of the boycott, though cancellations before then are also welcome. The reasons for the boycott include:
- T-Mobile's termination of its DEI programs in July to appease to the Trump Administration and gain approval from the FCC for two significant business deals.
- T-Mobile's long history of union-busting tactics designed to keep workers from organizing. During a meeting announcing the T-Mobile boycott, President Claude Cummings Jr., President of the Communications Workers of America, asserted that the company "has been among the worst labor law violators over the past 15 years."
- T-Mobile's partnership with Elon Musk's company Starlink to provide satellite internet coverage to customers residing in areas that have poor cellular service.
By contracting with Starlink, T-Mobile is funding Elon Musk’s attacks on democracy in the US and around the world. We’re demanding T-Mobile pick a side. If they choose to continue in partnership with Starlink, they’re complicit in his assault on working people and his support of far-right authoritarian governments around the world. — Tesla Takedown Movement
Recommended Actions
If you aren't a current T-Mobile customer, don't become one anytime soon.
If you are a current T-Mobile customer, please take the following steps:
- Research alternative carriers so you have a new carrier selected for the weekend of November 15th. Boycott organizers aren't recommending alternative carriers, but they recommend that you do not choose any mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) carriers that use the T-Mobile network. Carriers that do not operate on T-Mobile's network include: AT&T (union represented carrier), Verizon Wireless, Credo Mobile, Consumer Cellular, Visible, Straight Talk Wireless, Xfinity Mobile, MobileX, and Boost Mobile (make sure to ask for the Dish Network/AT&T option).
- Sign this pledge which boycott organizers will use as leverage in applying pressure to T-Mobile.

- Remember to contact T-Mobile after you cancel your plan to let them know why you have done so. Make sure the customer support operator you speak with records this reason if you cancel via phone.
