Boycott Citizens Bank

Published:

Citizen Bank's parent company Citizens Financial Group (CFG) has been a major lender to private prison and detention operators despite their long track record of committing human rights abuses and harming local communities.

CoreCivic and GEO Group have a long history of harming communities, with decades of allegations including forced labor, hazardous work conditions, wrongful deaths due to understaffing and medical neglect, sexual harassment, sexual assault and other abuses.

After a successful grassroots campaign by the Families Belong Together coalition, other banks have cut ties with private prison companies Geo Group and CoreCivic. Citizens Bank instead deepened its business ties to these companies.

A graphic outlined in gold. The text reads: "Citizens Bank says it's committed to 'strengthening communities'...but it has continued to help private prison giants CoreCivic & GEO Group access hundreds of millions of dollars to run & expand their businesses. #BoycottCitizens"
